I was doing a search for something fertility related online a couple of days ago and I came across this book by Phoebe Potts. Its called Good Eggs and includes some excellent illustrations that depict infertility so well. This one in particular had me smiling.
I was particularly amused at a few of the infertility stereotypes depicted in the illustration. Especially, ‘The woman who makes the rest of us feel hopeful because she is 44 years old’ and ‘The woman with secondaryinfertility’ ‘……..and the woman who hate her’
Her book is available on Amazon, I reckon it will make a good post infertility read, and a bit of a giggle.

Funny but also sad when you read it. So true in many ways and all of them, being there for the same thing.

Yes,for me it also shows how many stereotypes we have in the infertile community. Even though we are all here for the same reason.

The infertility community, to me, has always been the hardest to understand……the range from infertility to donor to adoption is quite vast and varied…and because of the “silence” within the community it is sometimes hard to get a grip on…I sometimes find myself, stepping of toes, when I talk about my Jadakins….and then I can kick myself, that I should have know better…smile

I actually find this picture sad. Especially the “Fed up with Fertility couple” cos that one hits just a leetle too close to home. Too much of what the ppl are thinking hits too close to home really.
IF – it scars us forever.
That said I do think it could be a good read now that I have the distance to be relatively objective about what the book contains.

I agree, IF scars us for ever. I find the illustration very tongue in cheek and not ha ha funny. For me it really highlights the ridiculous sterotypes surounding infertility. For me it is frustrating that they exist when we are all in pain.

Oh yes it’s definitely tongue in cheek. And yes we are all in pain and for the same reason, but much like there are stereotypes in every avenue of life, one can’t really expect the world of IF to be different just because we are all bound by our pain.
